H&P hosted an all-day conference entitled “Why change happens: what we can learn from the past”, in partnership with Friends of the Earth, on 3 June 2015 at King’s College London. Bringing together campaigners and historians, this innovative conference explored how and why change occurred in the past and what civil society groups seeking to shape society today can learn from history. Speakers included a range of historians and activists, followed by round-table discussions. The sold-out conference was organised by Paul Readman (King’s College London), Lucy Delap (Cambridge), Simon Szreter (Cambridge), and Mike Childs (Friends of the Earth).
