Simon Szreter is a Fellow of St John’s College and Professor of History and Public Policy at the Faculty of History, University of Cambridge. Simon co-founded the History & Policy website in 2002 and is now Editorial Director of the site. 

He is an historian of population, public health and reproduction with extensive experience of inter-disciplinary work. His most recent books have all presented historical studies with diverse contemporary public policy implications: Registration and Recognition. Documenting the Person in World History (Oxford University Press, 2012), The Big Society Debate. A New Agenda for Social Welfare? (Edward Elgar, Cheltenham, 2012), History, Historians and Development Policy (Manchester University Press 2011) and Sex Before the Sexual Revolution (Cambridge University Press, 2010). He is also the author of Health and Wealth: Studies in History and Policy (Boydell & Brewer, 2005), and in 2009 was awarded the Arthur Viseltear Award by the American Public Health Association for distinguished scholarship in the History of Public Health.
