H&P Deputy Director Lucy Delap will address the annual conference of the St Mary's Sexual Assault Centre in Manchester on April 21st. She will outline the historical contexts that can help explain how survivors of child sexual abuse disclosed, or chose not to disclose, their abuse. Drawing on an extensive collection of memoirs, autobiographies and oral histories, her paper will review cases of abuse experienced across the twentieth century, in settings ranging from children's homes and world war two evacuation billets to family homes. Her work builds on the ESRC-funded project Historicising 'historical' child sexual abuse.
