Where do we go from here? How much of a priority should Trade Union Education be for Unions? Some say more focus on learning (as with Professional Bodies is the future for Union. Others argue that Organising and activism should be the priority. Where do the political parties (including e.g. the SNP, Greens and Lib Dem’s) stand on these issues? Should the Union Learning Fund simply be reinstated or changed and what conditions on funding might a future government seek? Should funding for Union Rep training in FE Colleges be reinstated or should unions be funded to deliver their own training themselves if they wish? Currently there is a legal right for any worker to request training, should that become a legal right to learn with paid time off? Some argue that one lesson of history is not to rely on fickle government support. How can Unions build their own education system and resources?
