What was the nature of the relationship between Ramsay MacDonald’s first Labour administration of 1924 and the trades unions, and what was the role of women in that story? History & Policy’s Trades Union and Employment Forum will be hosting a special online panel discussion of this topic at 5.30 pm on Wednesday 2 December.  Panellists will include John Edmonds (former General Secretary of the GMB), Nan Sloane (author of Uncontrollable Women: Radicals, Reformers and Revolutionaries (2022) and The Women in the Room: Labour’s Forgotten History (2018)), Professor Sue Milner from the University of Bath (author of Women and Employment in Public Policy (OUP, 2024)) and Dr Jim Moher (author of Walter Citrine: Forgotten Statesman of the Trades Union Congress).
