1 October 2026

The former leader of the Green Party, Natalie Bennett (Baroness Bennett of Manor Castle) will be among the distinguished speakers at a conference on 5 November organised by History & Policy’s Trades Union and Employment Forum. The conference is entitled ‘Just Transitions to a Carbon-Neutral Economy: Employment Challenges Over the Next 25 Years’. It will consider how we organise this transition in a way that involves workers and their unions in the planning process and deals fairly with the burden of costs and pace of change. Speakers will be drawn from the worlds of politics, the trades unions and academia. The conference, which takes place in Senate House, London, will be a hybrid event, with the opportunity to register for in-person or online attendance. Online registration is free for students and the unwaged. See the conference website for a full programme and registration details.
